Team Metisentry took part in the 100 Million Steps Challenge in Downtown Akron. This challenge was designed to get individuals, friends, family members, community organizations, and local businesses to take part in a city-wide health initiative. The 100 Million Steps Challenge encouraged the Downtown Akron community to get out and walk 100 million steps collectively. Starting on April 18 and running through June 25, participants had 10 weeks to get their steps in.
“I’ve always liked walking around Downtown and finding new shops or restaurants, and the ‘100 Million Steps Challenge’ was a great nudge to do more of it!” -Marling Engle, Metisentry Founder & CEO
To join the challenge, individuals had to simply register for the event using their name and email. Participants could join the challenge individually, or as part of a team. 149 teams signed up, with more than 900 individuals registered. Daily step goals were set, and steps were tracked using the Walker Tracker App. The majority of Team Metisentry participated. Continue reading
We’re excited to announce that Metisentry has acquired Florida-based ePolk.
As one of the oldest technology companies in the Winter Haven, FL area, ePolk has been providing business clients with email, website development and web hosting services since 1991. In order to focus attention on the enhancement and expansion of his WinFactor brand, ePolk founder & president, Michael Kingham conducted a year-long search for a firm that would be “the perfect fit” for their ePolk clients. And they found that fit in the Metisentry team.
Not only does Metisentry provide similar services to support ePolk’s incoming clients but, perhaps even more importantly, we share the same dedication to customer service. Continue reading
Metisentry was excited to be a part of this year’s Green and Clean event in Downtown Akron. Now in its 9th year, Green and Clean is a city-wide project, focused on making Downtown Akron ‘vibrant and valuable’. This event encourages business employees, students, and community members to form teams and take part in projects around the city.
Green and Clean kicked off on Earth Day, April 22, and ran through Friday, May 20. Volunteers had the option to sign-up for shifts, or submit their own project ideas. Projects typically include litter clean-up, painting, weeding, and gardening.
Team Metisentry submitted a request to clean up the outside area surrounding our office space in The Nantucket Building. Prior to Green and Clean, our building entrance lacked plants and vegetation, and was not very welcoming. A peeling tar-like material covered the cement blocks out front, creating a worn, outdated appearance. Continue reading

On Friday, March 18th, the Metisentry team hosted an open house in honor of our 10-year anniversary. The open house started at noon and took place at our newest Downtown Akron office space in The Nantucket Building. Aware that our new location can be tricky for first time guests to find, our team hung signs and balloons around the outside of the building and surrounding walkways to help direct guests to our Maiden Lane entrance.
Upon arrival, guests were greeted by members of the Metisentry team and checked in. The first 25 guests received a complimentary gift bag full of Metisentry goodies inside including a mouse pad, a notepad, a stylus pen, and a Metisentry brochure and fliers. All guests were invited to drop their business card into a vase for a chance to win a door prize, which included an additional gift bag, a Metisentry water bottle, a Metisentry jacket, and a Chipotle gift card. Yesterday afternoon, the Metisentry team became aware of a vulnerability in WordPress. Typically, these exploits are seen within WordPress plugins, not WordPress itself. Within a few hours of detection, WordPress released version 4.4.2.
WordPress reported that this is a server side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability, putting outdated sites at risk. Although no technical details have been released at this time, this new version of WordPress fixes this security issue, along with 17 other bugs detected in earlier WordPress versions. They highly recommend that all WordPress sites update to version 4.4.2 as soon as possible, in order to keep the site protected. Continue reading
As Metisentry continues to grow, we are excited to announce the launch of our newest product, BackupLegend! Before BackupLegend, backup monitoring—when done correctly—was a heavily manual process. Companies would have to read through notification emails that listed all backup statuses, or review various software packages. If an issue occurred, each problem needed to be looked at one by one. This was a time consuming process, and it was nearly impossible to be sure backups were occurring when they were supposed to, if at all.
“All backup systems eventually fail; period. Without people constantly paying attention to the backups, these failures go unknown until data loss actually occurs.” -Marling Engle, Founder & CEO
BackupLegend takes the majority of the manual work out of backup monitoring with features such as: Continue reading
